Dr. Goldberg went back to school to learn Orthodontics and completed his
certification in 1989. Since then he’s been doing Orthodontics and Orthopedics
as well as treating “TMJ” issues. He also works with a variety of specialists
for the more difficult and challenging cases.
What’s the difference? Orthodontics is moving teeth and Orthopedics is moving
bones.
Can you really move bones? Of course you can. It’s a lot easier when you’re
younger, so the process is best done on children and young adults before growth
has completed. Appliances that use muscles to move jaws are commonly used in
dental Orthopedics. Most Orthodontic specialists don’t use Orthopedics because
it requires patients to be compliant. It’s more commonly used in Europe. Maybe
that says something about parenting in Europe?
Today, we see many adults, many who had braces as children, with moving and
shifting teeth. This is such a common problem that fully 70% of our patients
experience it. Most people don’t even know that their teeth are shifting. They
experience chipping teeth and cracked crowns and don’t realize that it may be a
sign of shifting teeth.
Tooth shifting and crowding is a real problem. It makes cleaning your teeth
more difficult. This can lead to increased decay and gum problems. Who needs
that?
The best thing to come along in Dentistry since implants has been
Invisalign. Dr. Goldberg has been doing Invisalign
for 6 years and is a “PREFERRED PROVIDER”. In fact, he’s done it himself…ask
him.
Invisalign is a process, which requires you to wear an aligner
for 20 hours a day, taking them out only to eat and clean your teeth. A new
aligner is placed every 2-3 weeks. This gradually moves the teeth according to a
computerized model. Again, the more complaint you are, the more successful the
outcome. To find out more, go to: www.Invisalign.com.
